GREEN ROOM AWARD WINNER - BEST INDEPENDANT THEATRE PRODUCTION

March 3-20, 2005
directed by Chris Baldock
lighting - John Cooper
Chapel off Chapel

The Laramie Project tells the compelling true story of Matthew Shepard, the 21 year old victim of a fatal gay bashing.

The Tectonic Theatre Project visited Laramie, Wyoming over a period of two years to chronicle the repercussions that were felt within the community and beyond. The outcome is a moving theatrical collage that explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the compassionate heights to which we can rise.

One of the best shows in town *****

The acting is outstandingly good: intensely moving and utterly convincing... This is a first-class production of an outstanding play.

It’s a credit to the cast and director that this spare, simple production is so affecting.
-The Herald Sun

This is powerful theatre, and beautifully realised by The Act-O-Matic 3000
-Theatrenotes

the first must-see theatrical production of 2005
-The Program

The skill with which the actors handle this highly sensitive material is remarkable...
The Laramie Project is performed with utter truth and respect.

One of the best nights I’ve had in the theatre in the last five years. It was funny, moving, and deeply thought provoking. Terrific acting by everyone. An important story, beautifully told.
